We love that the school focuses on more than studying — sports, outdoor play, excursions and themed events. Letterland Day was a favourite.

As a former teacher I had precise requirements: warm, cosy and safe. Shaws ticked all of them. All three of our children love it and have made friends from countries far and wide.

The big draw was the bilingual programme, with an English- and Chinese-speaking teacher in every class. Everything Joseph has learned has flowed naturally from having fun.

The small size of the Katong campus made it feel intimate — we got to know most of the teachers and children. We really like the sense of community that’s been built here.

Other schools wanted to talk about rates and unbeatable syllabuses. Shaws was focused on creating a fun, creative environment — and we could tell it was working from all the happy faces.

It’s a small school with lots of personal interaction, so everyone knows everyone. Our girls absolutely love their teachers, and are excited to go every day.

We chose the Katong campus because it felt homely. My eldest has even said that his teacher is his best friend.

Harrison loves Messy Play Day every Wednesday and the weekly Sports Day. He’s too young to talk properly, but he comes home and says his friends’ names excitedly.

We wanted a play-based school with a solid bilingual programme, and liked the focus on sport from a very young age. We noticed Allie’s rapid vocabulary development after she started.

We love that our son gets to do things like evening play at the mud kitchen — something we enjoyed ourselves as kids. Kobe loves Tuesdays because of Shaws Little League.

Shaws is perfect for active kids like Elliot. Under the gentle guidance of his teachers we’ve seen his confidence grow, and his fine motor and language skills develop rapidly.

The curriculum is very thoughtfully created. My child is learning so many new things and being exposed to all kinds of information — good stead for higher learning ahead.
