Shaws @ Lorong Chuan

Our newest campus, a short walk from Serangoon Gardens Village — bright, contemporary, and the only Shaws with its own swimming pool.

The campus

Two houses, one very large school

Lorong Chuan opened in 2017 in a bright, contemporary building on Mei Hwan Drive, surrounded by traditional houses and friendly neighbours — usually walking their dogs. In the mornings you can hear the parrots in the trees, and the children have made a game of spotting them.

The first thing most visitors notice is the swimming pool, which is brilliant for water play and for cooling down. Beyond that, there is simply a lot of room: the campus is two housing units joined into one, specifically so children have more space to roam, indoors and out.

We’re conveniently placed near Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, and welcome families from Serangoon, Bishan, Upper Thomson and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Hannah Grosse, Principal of Shaws Lorong Chuan
Meet the principal

Hannah Grosse

Hannah has more than fifteen years in early childhood education and has taught every level from Nursery 2 through to Kindergarten 2. She is known for a calm, approachable manner and for taking the time to know each child and family personally.

Her conviction is that children learn best when they are genuinely involved — exploring outdoors, working with their hands, solving problems together. Confidence, communication and independence follow naturally from that, rather than being taught separately.

Her history with Shaws runs long: she taught at Lorong Chuan before becoming Principal at Katong, and has now returned to lead this campus.

What parents here say

It ticked all the boxes: play-based curriculum, equal emphasis on English and Mandarin, good class sizes and lots of outdoor time. Ellie runs off to play as soon as we arrive.
Ben & JoleneParents of Ellie
We love that Shaws encourages outdoor play. Little League is a big plus for us, because Adam gets a gentle introduction to lots of different sports.
Nabil & PriscillaParents of Adam
We wanted a good balance of structured learning and play. Shaws fit the bill — teaching through play, and encouraging students to be brave and adventurous.
